The Doctrine of the Security of Believers

The Doctrine of the Security of Believers

The Finished Work of Christ

We believe that because of the nature of eternal life as the divine gift of God’s grace, because of the eternal purpose of God toward the objects of His love, because of the freedom to exercise grace based on the grounds of the propitiatory blood of Christ to the meritless sinner, based on the present and unending intercession and advocacy of Christ in heaven, and because of the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of all who are saved, believers will be kept saved forever. We also believe that since God is the holy and righteous Father and since He cannot overlook the sins of His children, He will, when they persistently sin, discipline them in love; but having undertaken to save them through His grace and mercy, in the end He will present them faultless before the presence of His glory.

John 5:24  |  John 10:28  |  John 13:1  |  John 14:16-17  |  John 17:11  |  1 Corinthians 6:19  |  Hebrews 7:25  |  1 John 5:13  |  Jude 24

We believe that based on the testimony of the Word of God and on the finished work of Christ in extending salvation to those who believe, it is the privilege of all who are saved to have full assurance of that salvation and to be confident of their eternal position before God which cannot be altered.
