It is a remarkable concept that the God of the universe, Who we offended with our sin, would even think about us, let alone “long to be gracious” to us and “wait to have compassion” on us. But that’s the reality of HIs mercy. And it should cause us to long for Him, not just because there is no one and nothing that compares to Him, but because He promises to bless us when we do.
